Chili was the first dish I learned how to cook as a kid. I still remember the recipe my older sister taught me.

  1. Dump a bunch of ingredients into a slow-cooker
  1. And wait

My first few pots of chili required extensive “help” from my sister. But eventually, I got the hang of it. However, I’m sure I would have mastered the chili pot a lot sooner if I had help from Laura Meyn (no offense, to my sister).

Laura Meyn co-authored a vegetarian cookbook, “Meatless in Cowtown.” Also, she’s our next local author speaker for Books That Cook!

Join us on January 12 at 6 p.m. in the Tandy Lecture Hall for Meatless in Cowtown with Laura Meyn.

Meyn will discuss how to cook hearty vegetarian dishes inspired by Texas’s rich culture.

We all know clean-eating can be difficult when Fort Worth has a barbecue joint on every corner. But Laura, culinary expert and vegetarian, has lived in Fort Worth for the last decade and has learned how to use the rich ingredients of Texas to create mouth-watering vegetarian dishes.

Next Thursday, Laura will discuss recipes, cocktails, clean eating, vegetarianism and more. And did I mention there will be a hot bowl of chili for you to enjoy? Don’t miss out.

We hope to see you there!

P.S. Both vegetarians and meat-eaters are welcome!
