On May 5, if you were one of the 300 or so people able to get a ticket then you enjoyed a long overdue night out at the Fort Worth Club. The annual Cigar Smoker Gala benefitting the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation returned this year to a sold-out crowd.

In a short four months, the event committee remained nimble and armed with contingency plans to evolve as the COVID guidelines continued to change. The Foundation worked closely with the Fort Worth Club throughout the planning process to ensure the event would come off with the safety of our guests being the priority. “It was a tall task for our volunteer committee,” said John McKenzie, FWPLF Board Chair,” And in the end, we were blessed to have been one of the first events to happen again.”

Indeed, Fort Worth came out ready to have a great time. This year’s highlights included music by one of the Library’s Amplify817 artists, a Cuban cigar roller, an interactive selfie mirror, and samplings by Acre Distilling.

Together with the generous support of our sponsors, underwriters, and event partners, the Smoker raised $170,000.
