The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation

23rd Annual Cigar Smoker

May 5, 2021

Join us at the Fort Worth Club for our infamous Annual Cigar Smoker on May 5, 2021!

Your support provides us with the resources necessary for future Children’s Author Series visits as well as virtual programming such as LaunchPad college application counseling, Amplify817 local streaming music, and mobile Wi-Fi Hotspots. These programs and services are needed now more than ever.

The Event

The Annual Cigar Smoker is The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation’s unique, signature gala and is one of the most anticipated social gatherings of the year. The event showcases premium cigars, fine wines and spirits, three-course dinner prepared by the award-winning Chef Prefontaine of the Fort Worth club, raffle, and silent and live auction.

The History

In 1901, at the suggestion of Andrew Carnegie, a group of Fort Worth ladies asked local gentlemen to donate “the price of a good cigar” to help raise money to build a local library and bring literature to Cowtown.

To honor our history and to further promote literacy in our city, The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation hosts the Annual Cigar Smoker at the Fort Worth Club.

The Cause

The substantial success of the Annual Cigar Smoker allows the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation to continue enhancing library programs and services at all 16 City of Fort Worth Library locations—and to continue supporting Foundation literacy and learning programs for Fort Worth children, families, and adults.
