What is the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation?
The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation helps the Library by offering programs for patrons of all ages, raises money for capital improvements, and provides collections of interest to the community. We do this by securing and managing donations from individuals, businesses and foundations to support the Library above and beyond what public funding provides. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation 501(c)(3) established in 1993 and governed by a volunteer board of directors. A professional staff raises and administers gifts and ensures the effectiveness of funded programs.
What geographic area is served by the Foundation?
We serve and support all 16 libraries located in Fort Worth.
How does my money support the Library through the Foundation’s programs and events?
For the programs, your support helps young learners build reading skills and succeed in school and prepares area teens for college and careers. Donor support is crucial to ensuring these programs grow. The library provides Fort Worth free cultural programming including entertainment, educational and literary events each year. Private support helps expand this increasingly important mission.
Can the Foundation receive bequests or trust incomes?

Is my donation to the Foundation tax deductible?
Yes, your donation to the Foundation is 100% tax deductible if you receive no goods or services. Once you make your donation, you will receive a tax acknowledgment letter for your personal files. The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered with the IRS and with the State of Texas.

Can I support my branch library through the Foundation?
Yes. You may specify which branch you would like to support under our Donate section of the website. There are 16 libraries in the Fort Worth Library system and you can view each one of them here.
Are there other ways I can give back to the Foundation?
There are a variety of community partners that donate a percentage of their sales to the Library Foundation. We encourage you to participate in each one of these programs because it’s easy money for a great cause and free to you! The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation would humbly ask that you introduce the Library Foundation to the people in your network that have an interest in literacy and learning. We also encourage you to share the Library Foundation mission with your wealth advisor for other clients to get involved or to learn more. If you would like to offer a donation of time to the Foundation, we love our volunteers. What types of things does the Foundation support within the Library?
The Library Foundation supports a wide range of Fort Worth Public Library programs targeted to all ages, with new programming introduced regularly to benefit the Fort Worth community.
Does the Foundation accept donations of books and magazines?
The Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library welcome gifts of new or gently used books and other materials. All gifts become the property of the Friends. Most items in good condition are processed by the Friends of Fort Worth Public Library for sale in their book store or in their book sales. Proceeds from these sales directly benefit the Library.
Who are the Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library?
The Friends of the Fort Worth Public Library, Inc. is another active nonprofit in support of the Fort Worth Library that works to provide volunteers and funding assistance for library needs through a variety of programs, including book sales and author events.
