Happy new year from the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation. It goes without saying that 2020 was a year like no other. Despite the endless challenges we all faced, the outpouring of love and support shown to our libraries and the Foundation far outweigh that. I find myself overflowing with gratitude for how the library and our team pulled together to keep programs, services, and funding moving so that the libraries could be there to provide a sense of normalcy.
The Fort Worth Public Library remains the only large-scale system in Texas that is open to the public. And the Foundation continues to be nimble to raise funds in areas where the library needed it most. Areas that suddenly came into high demand were digital resources, remote programming tools, and supplies and expanding the Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot service to incorporate workforce development resources.
Our LaunchPad College Application remains in high demand under the direction of Dr. Paula Tyler – serving on average 85-100 students at any one time now all through video calls and email. That is a lot of essays!
How is all this possible? Through the generosity of our amazing Fort Worth community. When you give to the Library Foundation – you give to the Library! Your contributions support and grow reading resources, learning programs, services, and opportunities for you and your neighbors to explore new hobbies, music languages, and cultures. Libraries provide the opportunity for everyone to be curious.
Thank you for believing in us!
