The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation is a nonprofit organization supported by donations from individuals and corporations who value the programs we provide. Our sponsorship events are fundraisers that offer donors entertainment while allowing their financial gift to benefit the Foundation. Please join us at one of our exciting events.
Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak, the 23rd Annual Cigar Smoker on May 6th, has been cancelled. The Smoker is the Foundation’s primary source of funding and its cancellation has created new challenges for us and those we serve. The well-being of the Fort Worth community is our priority so we invite you to stay home, spend time with your loved ones, and make an even greater impact by donating directly to the Foundation to help fill the glass.
The Annual Cigar Smoker is The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation’s unique, signature event and is one of the most anticipated social gatherings of the year. The event showcases premium cigars, fine wines and spirits, three-course dinner (prepared by the award winning Chef Prefontaine of the Fort Worth Club), raffle, and silent and live auction.
In 1901, at the suggestion of Andrew Carnegie, a group of Fort Worth ladies asked local gentlemen to donate “the price of a good cigar” to help raise money to build a local library and bring literature to Cowtown. To honor our history and to further promote literacy in our city, the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation hosts the Annual Cigar Smoker at the Fort Worth Club.
The substantial success of the Annual Cigar Smoker allows the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation to continue enhancing library programs and services at all sixteen City of Fort Worth libraries—and to continue supporting Foundation literacy and learning programs for Fort Worth children, families, and adults.
