When you meet John Mackenzie, it is quite clear that this is a man that is down to earth, dedicated to his friends and family, he is all in, and loves the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation.

John was born and raised in Fort Worth. During his childhood, while attending schools in different socioeconomic areas he was exposed to the needs of students in his community. The disparities impacted John.

As a young man just out of high school he made the decision to pursue his passion of making and investing money. He started his career in banking and he is now the First Vice President, Investments, Wealth Management Specialist for Lazarus Wealth Management of Raymond James.

John was first exposed to the Foundation when he attended his first Cigar Smoker Event in 2009 at the invitation of a colleague. It was not a difficult decision for him to go smoke cigars and have some whiskey. John was “finally invited” to serve on the Smoker Committee in 2011, in 2017 he joined our Board of Directors. John always shows up ready to contribute. He is passionate about The LaunchPad Program and the opportunity it gives to graduating high school students.

John’s community involvement includes serving as Treasurer for the Cause Agency, he attends Bethesda Community Church where he served as a Board member and is deeply committed to Fort Worth Teen Challenge for Women along with his family.

John does not know a stranger. He will give his all to his friends. We are grateful he chose us.
